Samples:                  Test samples were Spruce, Pine, Larch, Oak, Douglas Fir, Beech, Ash and Cedar.                                    There were 2 samples of each wood.

Purpose:
The purpose of the test was to study under laboratory conditions how Hr-Prof was                                    absorbed by a variety of wood substrates.

Time of the test:

April 2007

Method and instrument:
The test was made as agreed with the customer.
The test was made in Seinäjoen ammattikorkeakoulun        technical divisions wood laboratory.

Selecting the test material:

The test laboratory supplied the wood for the tests.Principal of the test:

Test samples were numbered and coated with Hr-Prof using brushes.
The samples were weighed before and after the treatment to establish how much was absorbed after each treatment.
In the test table it states, the substrate, the number of treatments and the time between the treatments.

RESULTS

The absorption results can be seen in the table.

Conclusion:

The tests confirm that the absorption rates for the substrates with low moisture content was very good, however the harder woods required more treatments and longer drying times.

For substrates with high moisture content the conclusion was similar.
In high moisture content wood and hard woods, the time between treatments where possible should be as much as 24 hours, by which time the surface moisture would have been absorbed and partly evaporated from the surface of the substrate. The absorption during the subsequent application would then be far greater when compared to treatment after an interval of only 1 hour.
